CALL FOR ENTRIES
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.The second edition of LO SGUARDO DI OMERO (Through Homer’s eyes) – Film Festival dedicated to places, cultures and identities - will take place in the bathing resorts of San Foca and Torre dell’Orso (Melendugno, Lecce, Italy), during the first week of September 2011.
2.The Festival is organized by the Municipality of Melendugno in association with Zane Editrice (publishing house) and Pao film (film production company).
3.The main aim of the Festival is to promote cinema production. And in particular, those original films which give to landscape its own identity and best tell the delicate balance between man and nature.
4.The Festival welcomes a range of film categories: features, shorts, documentaries and reportages, digital films, advertising spots, television commercials, whose subjects are European or Mediterranean countries. Films should deal with any aspects of culture, landscape and identity in the Euro-Mediterranean area. The landscape is not intended to be a simple context or a precious frame where stories are placed. On the contrary, landscape must play a role of real protagonist of human history and social development.
5. Official awards:
Best documentary on landscape and anthropological issues
Best television commercial promoting landscape and territory
Best film telling the uneasy relationship between nature, man and civilization
Best reportage on environmental issues
Best reportage on tourism and culture of a place
Popular jury’s special award
6. The best out-of-competition film will be awarded with a special prize chosen by members of the jury.
7. Films from every nationality and time length are accepted. Films produced prior to the year 2000 are not eligible.
8. The subject of films should focus on one or more Euro – Mediterranean countries by telling culture, history and identity of places in an original and innovative manner.
Copies of films must be sent in DVD PAL standard only - 6 copies. All entries must be in source language and contain Italian or English subtitles. They will not be returned, but kept in the archive of the Festival.
Films must be sent together with the Entry Form - published on our web-site - filled in correctly with the following information: title, director, producer, release date, time, size. Only completed entries will be processed and considered for screening.
9. The closing date for submissions is April 30th 2011. Completed films should be sent to the following address:

10. The cost of postage and packing of an entry to the Festival must be paid by the entrant. In order to go through customs, please write on parcel: “no commercial value, for cultural aims only”.
11. The awards consist of a holiday of one week to spend in Salento (the South-Eastern part of Apulia region). Winners will enjoy a comfortable stay in charming, traditional and unique in character accommodation – in a period they will choose between September 2011 and July 2012. The Festival aims to provide an opportunity to know and appreciate local culture and landscapes, which could be the starting point for future film projects.
12. All participants confirm and warrant required legal authority to submit the film into the Festival and to use all music, images and content in the film. Film makers are responsible for all commercial/private property including all trademark/copyrighted materials shown or recorded on the project.
13. A copy of award-winning films must be left in the archive of Festival.
14. Just winners will be told about juries’ decisions by July 2011. The list of award-winning films will be published on the Festival web-site.
15. Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of the rules of the competition, stated in this regulations paper.
